CHANGING DIMENSION OF INDIAN MUSIC AND ITS IMPACT

“Music is the healing balm for every soul”

A very true statement, by an unknown person. Music is something which shakes the strings of the heart and the body and provides a healing touch to the wounded heart.

But, as we all know that change is the spice of life. So is true with Music. In the Indian film industry, music plays a very great role. Movies get hit even if they have a very common story, but a very appealing music. It is evolving in its widest forms these days. Ranging from “Munni Badnaam, Sheila ki jawani, Anarkali Disco chali”, to great compositions of A.R. Rehmaan, which not only are nominated for Oscar, but also bag it.

Now the question which arises is, that, What kind impact this vulgarity in music is leaving on the citizens of India?
India is a nation where 60% of its population is youth, a forebearer of the country’s future. Its ok on the part of Bollywood, that it defends itself by saying that they only provide what the people want. But, are we not socially responsible for our country, in terms that small children are exposed to such ambiguous forms of music, which leaves a great impact on their mental faculties?
